Swanville wins close match against Verndale

Bulldogs start season 2-0

On Sept. 6, the Bulldogs hosted the Verndale Pirates for their home opener.

The Bulldogs were looking to get revenge after the Pirates beat them 3-0 last season. Every game in the match was close and either team could have came away with a win. However, the Bulldogs were able to come out on top, beating the Pirates 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24).

The games were incredibly close and game four had an exciting finish. After trading points throughout the entire game, the game and match ended with an enormous kill by Lacee Primus that hit near the 10 foot line.

Marissa Evans led the way, putting in a very solid performance. She finished the match with 11 kills, 10 digs, and 10 set assists. Brittany Poegel finished with eight kills and 13 digs. Molly Jordan had a fine night passing, finishing with 18 set assists.

Jordan and Evans had a perfect night serving with both players finishing 18 for 18 serving.

Swanville will host the Eagle Valley Rebels for their conference opener Thursday.
