Melrose at Sauk Centre
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17

Tuesday’s matchup between Melrose (19-4, 11-2) and Sauk Centre (21-7, 11-2) isn’t going to decide the West Central Conference title, as both are still chasing No. 10-2A Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (18-5, 11-1). But a loss will definitely eliminate one of the two from contention, and likely hurt in the Class 2A, Section 6 seeding race, as well, where both are chasing No. 5-2A Rocori.

Sauk Centre has the leg up already with a 3-0 victory over Melrose on Sept. 21. It wasn’t as easy as the sweep makes it look, however, as two of the three sets went extra points. Multi-sport seniors Kelsey Peschel and Kenzie Schmiesing lead the Mainstreeters, as both were West Central all-conference choices as juniors.

Melrose is paced by senior middle Mia Meyer.
