MACCRAY at Tracy-Milroy-Balaton
7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16

For the second year in a row, MACCRAY (23-5) and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton are playing for the outright Camden Conference title.

Both have already earned their respective North and South division titles and are set in opposite sides of the Class 1A, Section 3 tournament—MACCRAY as the No. 3 seed in the North subsection and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (22-4) as the top-seed in the South subsection.

But first comes the conference title match. History isn’t kind to MACCRAY in this series, either.

Last year in the championship match, the Panthers won in five sets, earning their third straight conference title. Sydney Lanoue was Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s biggest weapon, pounding out 20 kills. This past weekend, the senior earned her 2,000th career kill, putting her in select company in state history. Cassidy Smith has taken the setter’s reins from graduated five-year setter Gabbie Gervais well, keeping the No. 2-1A Panthers near the top of the state rankings all season long.

Just a week ago, the teams played in the regular season, with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton sweeping the Wolverines. For MACCRAY to turn that result around this time, it will likely fall upon big efforts from an experienced senior crew including setter Sydney Schwitters, as well as junior Piper Asche, the team's top returning hitter.
