Lakeville South vs. Lakeville North
7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28

In any other week, the showdown for Lakeville would have been the top match of the week. Both Lakeville schools are ranked among the top four teams in Class 3A, with Lakeville North holding the head-to-head edge with a 2-0 victory in the final of the Southwest Minnesota Challenge in Marshall on Sept. 9.

Lakeville South (13-2) finished third in the Eagle Invitational at Apple Valley last weekend, falling to current No. 1-3A Eagan in the semifinals before recovering for a victory over Moorhead in the third-place match.

The connection between setter Syd Case (281 set assists) and middle Jasmine Mulvihill (204 kills) continues to power the Cougars. Alena Moldan leads No. 4-3A Lakeville South in both service aces (15, tied with Case) and digs (145).

Lakeville North (15-1) had temporarily taken over the No. 1 spot in the Class 3A rankings from Eagan until losing to the Wildcats in the finals of the Eagle Invitational at Apple Valley Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Burger and Elizabeth Juhnke are atop the leaderboards in several statistical categories for the No. 2-3A Panthers, with Juhnke leading in kills (166) and tied with Burger for service aces (18). Burger leads Lakeville North in set assists (207).
