North St. Paul at Blaine
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12

It’s been a win-one, lose-one season thus far for Blaine, which means the Bengals are due for a victory at home against North St. Paul on Tuesday. Blaine (3-4) dropped its only match last week, falling at Elk River in straight sets. Coach Celeste Gorman is trying to stabilize her young team, which returned just three letterwinners. Senior outside hitter Isabella Erne, a St. Cloud State commit, is one of the few veterans for the Bengals and had 215 kills and 239 digs last fall.

North St. Paul is coming off a victory in its own Wally Wakefield Invitational on Saturday, as the Polars edged Farmington 2-1 in the championship match. New coach Stephanie Blanda, who took over when Steve Anderson left for East Ridge, has the Polars (7-0) unbeaten through three weeks of the season. Blanda was an assistant the past two years under Anderson and coached North’ St. Paul's Junior Olympic team for four years, so she’s plenty familiar with the team. Libero Charisma Herr is a senior and among the Polars’ top veterans.
