Mayer Lutheran at Belle Plaine
7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22

Having lost just one set since its season-opening 3-2 win over New Prague, Mayer Lutheran enters this Minnesota River Conference matchup with some serious confidence.

The No. 4-1A Crusaders (9-0, 1-0) are particularly dangerous in the first two sets, outscoring opponents 201-140 and 199-142, respectively.

Getting off to a good start will be key for Belle Plaine, last year’s Class 2A state champion. The No. 2-2A Tigers (5-0, 2-0) appear primed for another deep postseason run with senior outside hitter Mariena Hayden (106 kills) back in top form. Senior setter Danielle Taylor is another offensive threat, leading the team with 170 assists.
