Waconia at Wayzata
6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4

A straight-set loss to Totino-Grace could be a good learning experience for a very young Waconia squad, which has two freshman and two eighth-graders on its roster. Sophomore libero Danielle Pioske (265 digs), senior outside hitter Makayla Williams (218) and 6-foot-2 junior setter/right hitter Taylor Wolf (172 kills, 168 digs) pace the Wildcats.

A four-set loss to No. 4-3A Lakeville South leaves Wayzata winless on the season, but No. 10-3A Trojans shouldn't stay that way for long with a trio of juniors returning. Outside hitter Kate Berg (325 kills, 260 digs), right hitter Morgan Baufield (205 kills, 176 digs) and setter MacKenzie Groechel (885 assists) should get Wayzata back to its 21-win form of last season.
