Minneapolis Southwest at Eagan
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1

Reigning Minneapolis City Conference champion Minneapolis Southwest lost six seniors to graduation, but retain a talented junior class led by all-conference selection April Houston that should keep the Lakers competitive this season. The team also gets help from junior libero Fola Wilson (276 digs) on the defensive side.

No. 2-3A Eagan defeated Minneapolis Southwest in straight sets in the season opener last season, and the Wildcats have the talent to do so again this year. Junior setter and South Suburban all-conference selection Brie Orr leads the young Wildcats. Sophomore defensive specialist McKenna Melville (168 digs) and 6-foot-1 junior middle hitter Alyssa Doucette round out the lineup.
