Martin County West at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14

The two top teams in the Valley Conference are setting up for a potential title match Tuesday night when No. 8-1A Martin County West visits Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

The Mavericks lead the circuit with a perfect record while the Bulldogs have just one loss, a 3-2 defeat at Mankato Loyola on Sept. 9.

Both should also be among the favorites out of the South Subsection of Class 1A, Section 2, an impressive feat for the Bulldogs, who finished 5-16 last year. Middle hitter Kennedy Strauss has led Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton’s senior-laden team throughout its resurgent season.

Martin County West is used to winning, having posted 27 victories and its fourth state tournament berth in six years last fall. Seniors Molly Klima, Hailey Leiding, McKenna Taylor and Taryn Tumbleson have seen plenty of success in Mustangs’ black and blue.
