Hopkins at Wayzata
7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14

Neither No. 4-3A Hopkins or Wayzata looks as if it will catch No. 2-3A Eden Prairie in the Lake Conference, but both could use a head-to-head victory as the Class 3A, Section 6 playoffs are about to start.

The section is as tough as any in the state, with Eden Prairie the likely frontrunner, although Hopkins has handed the Eagles their only two losses. Add in Minnetonka, which earned votes in the latest poll along with Wayzata, and the section field has four of the state’s top 12 teams.

In the first meeting this year between Hopkins and Wayzata, the Royals swept three consecutive sets to earn the victory.

Look for some great individual players, as well as top team play, with Minnesota Miss Volleyball favorite Sam Seliger-Swenson setting to super sophomore Jasmyn Martin for Hopkins. Wayzata has powerful hitters Tia Dille-Starks and Kate Berg getting sets from sophomore MacKenzie Groechel.
