Blaine at Champlin Park
7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14

Tuesday brings plenty of final matches that should decide conference championships, including this one between two Northwest Suburban Conference powers.

Both Blaine and Champlin Park are 11-1 in the conference, one match ahead of Totino-Grace and Osseo. A victory head-to-head should ensure a conference title.

Champlin Park lost to Osseo on Sept. 30 for its only conference loss, while Blaine lost to Maple Grove on Sept. 9.

The Bengals' terrific season was a bit unexpected, as coach Celeste Gorman graduated a large senior class and returned little experience outside of senior setter Rebecca Hawkins and senior middle hitter Taylor Morgan, who missed most of her junior year due to injury. But the young Bengals have blended together quickly — and well.

Meanwhile, Champlin Park returned much of its lineup from a 24-victory team that included All-State setter Sydney Hilley, who has already verbally committed to the University Wisconsin as a sophomore.
