Prior Lake at Lakeville South
7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7

Prior Lake isn’t flawless this year. The Lakers, No. 1-3A, lost their opener to Owatonna in August and then dropped a tournament match against Eden Prairie in mid-September, but their resume is otherwise spotless.

Coach Mike Dean’s team has already beaten two teams that have held the top spot in the polls (Chaska and Eagan) and cruised unbeaten through a tough South Suburban Conference schedule heading into the final week of the regular season. The Lakers also gave No. 7-3A North St. Paul its first loss of the season in last weekend’s Lakeville North tournament.

That same Polars’ team also beat No. 5-3A Lakeville South in the same tournament, which could be a harbinger of this match, although the Cougars have otherwise only lost to top-ranked teams this fall (twice to Eden Prairie and once each to Chaska and Eagan).

Keep an eye on the matchup between the teams' top young hitters, with Lakeville South sophomores Halle Johnston and Jenny Mosser going head-to-head with Prior Lake junior Lara Schultz and freshman CC McGraw.
