Chaska at Chanhassen
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30

Chanhassen started slowly this fall, dropping six of its first nine matches. The Storm, however, have kicked their play into high gear since their loss Sept. 8 to Eden Prairie, No. 1-3A. Chanhassen faces a steep test in its matchup with rival Chaska, No. 3-3A. The Hawks began the year ranked No. 1 in Class 3A but have since fallen out of that spot after two losses to No. 2-3A Prior Lake and a defeat to No. 4-3A Hopkins.

Chanhassen has a nice one-two punch in senior outside hitters Danielle Gitzen and Anna Zahn, who combined for more than 700 kills last fall. Gitzen is a great athlete who has committed to play basketball at Missouri State. The Storm also have terrific serve-receive from senior libero Taylor Soine. Chaska is loaded with top players, including middle hitter Sarah Kelly and outside hitter Erin Schindler, both seniors who have committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The Hawks' Makayla Wenzel, a senior setter, is headed to Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
