Eden Prairie suffered its first loss last weekend after opening the season with 14 consecutive victories. The Eagles fell to Hopkins 13-25, 25-16, 15-1 in the Eagle Invitational championship on Saturday. Eden Prairie has been relying on the play of top seniors Abby Ihrke, Lauren Mattison and All-State setter Elizabeth Mohr to overpower most programs.

Minnetonka’s only loss this year was to Eden Prairie. The Eagles defeated the Skippers 2-0 in the championship match of the Pudas Invitational, Eden Prairie's home tournament. The Skippers have won four consecutive matches against tough opponents since the loss, including a 16-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 victory over Hopkins on Thursday. Senior outside hitter Caroline Shelquist led the way against the Royals with 14 kills and 11 digs as the Skippers rallied after losing the first set.
