Lakeville South at Eagan
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16

If No. 3-3A Eagan has designs on defending its state Class 3A championship, the Wildcats can’t afford to slip too far behind its chief rivals. Tuesday night presents a key home match against a section opponent that is nipping at Eagan’s heels, No. 5-3A Lakeville South. Both teams have won seven of nine matches entering the week, but Eagan is coming off a surprising 3-0 sweep at the hands of No. 4-3A Prior Lake. Both teams feature super sophomores — Eagan’s Brie Orr and Lakeville South’s Jenny Mosser, who leads the Cougars in kills. Claire Ritchie’s rise as a setter has helped South free senior Jade Tingelhoff to use her athleticism as a hitter.
