Jackson County Central at Marshall
7:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18

The only thing keeping No. 4-2A Jackson County Central from state prominence in volleyball is No. 1-2A Marshall. But the Tigers are an awfully big road block. In each of the last seven years, Marshall has ended Jackson County Central’s season in the Section 3AA playoffs, often in the championship match of either the section or sub-section. As in past years, the Huskies are rolling along, winning eight of their first nine matches behind a senior-laden lineup anchored by outside hitter Kaylee Burmeister, setter Rachel Johnson and libero Kathryn Nasby. Marshall has a new look this fall, as coach Dan Westby graduated much of his lineup from the three-time defending state champions. But the Tigers have kept the juggernaut moving and are ranked No. 1 entering this match.
