Kasson-Mantorville at Stewartville
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9

It may be a bit early to think about section implications. But then again, maybe not. When No. 2-2A Stewartville hosts No. 4-2A Kasson-Mantorville on Tuesday night, the match should be thick with the Class 2A, Section 1 seeding possibilities. Stewartville has been the big bully on the block in the section over the years, qualifying for 21 of the past 27 state tournaments. But it’s been two years since the Tigers last visited St. Paul in early November. Last season, Kasson-Mantorville upended Stewartville in the section semifinals and qualified for its first state tournament since 2004. The KoMets have started this fall strong, with six victories in eight matches, anchored by veteran setter Lilly Braun. But Stewartville has the higher ranking and has only lost once, to Rosemount in the final of the Aerie Challenge in Apple Valley last weekend.
