The Southwest Minnesota Challenge at Marshall High School is arguably the premier outstate tournament of the season. Marshall, the three-time defending state Class 2A champion, is always a tough draw but the Tigers also bring in some of the top Metro and southwestern Minnesota teams as well.

This year’s field features Andover, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Bloomington Jefferson, Burnsville, Canby, Champlin Park, Chaska (No. 1 in 3A), East Ridge, Fergus Falls, Hutchinson, Kasson-Mantorville (No. 3-2A), Lakeville North, Lakeville South (No. 6-3A ), Le Sueur-Henderson, Minneota (No. 7-1A), New Prague, Owatonna, Perham, Southwestern United, St. Michael-Albertville, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (No. 3-1A), Waconia (No. 9-3A), Wayzata and Yellow Medicine East.

Marshall hopes to get back on track after losing 3-1 at Bethlehem Academy (No. 1-1A) in its previous match. Tigers' coach Dan Westby is breaking in a new lineup after graduating Miss Volleyball finalist Kenzie Beekman along with All-State teammates Hannah Bennett and Sydney Griffin.
