Pudas Invitational at Eden Prairie
All day, Saturday, Aug. 30

The first big tournament of the season has traditionally been at Eden Prairie and this year is no different as the No. 3-3A Eagles’ host a 10-team event that includes No. 10-3A Minnetonka, Burnsville, Chanhassen, Alexandria, No. 5-2A Hill-Murray, Holy Family Catholic, Woodbury, Cambridge-Isanti and Bloomington Jefferson.

The Eagles have won their own invitational each of the last three years, including a tie-breaker victory over North St. Paul and Minnetonka last fall. The three teams entered a round-robin, three-team championship bracket and split with each other, but the Eagles came out ahead on margin of victory by a single point.

This year, it looks as if Eden Prairie’s toughest competition should come from Lake Conference rival Minnetonka, underrated Chanhassen, Hill-Murray or a Claire Sheehan-led Cambridge-Isanti team.
